PRESIDENT OBAMA AND EXECUTIVE ORDERS

I met someone today that was ranting about President Obama and how many executive orders he has imposed; “Just seems like he’s always forcing people to do something and take more power with an executive order.” I didn’t expect him to be very well informed anyways, but because I couldn’t remember the numbers off the top of my head, I let him know that Obama has imposed far fewer executive orders than this individual’s favorite president: George W. Bush. (Apparently the number of executive orders were a metric by which he determined how much he disliked a president; at least when it came to a president he already disliked and needed to create justification for doing so: Obama)

When I got home, I remembered the conversation and looked that information up. Surprise! Obama has actually drafted fewer executive orders per year (which accounts for varying term lengths) than any president since the 1880’s. Here’s a chart:

Shocked? Only because FOX and a select group of politicians keep pushing the narrative that Obama is trying to grasp for more and more power; when in fact that isn’t the reality. Why all the Obama hate? Really, I would like to hear a legitimate reason why a majority of people in my state dislike him so much. Stop with the nonsense. Obama has dedicated his life to public service, and he’s damn sure doing the best he can for the people given his circumstances.
